REDWOOD CITY, CA — January 8, 2007 — Rapport, Inc., the leader in next generation massively parallel reconfigurable chips and software, today announced that the company has entered into a development agreement with Geometric Informatics, Inc. to provide a Kilocore™ 3D graphics solution in 2007. The companies are targeting 3D graphics visualization applications in markets that include consumer electronics (e.g. gaming, cell phones, mobile devices), 3D internet applications, as well as other markets where high performance and low energy consumption are needed.
Rapport’s Kilocore™ Architecture enables high performance 3D rendering and visualization using much lower power than alternatives. “The agreement between Rapport and Geometric Informatics (GI) will accelerate the development and commercialization of GI’s technology on Rapport’s Kilocore architecture”, said Krasimir Kolarov, Vice President of Worldwide Business Development at Rapport. “GI’s leadership in conformal structure representation for arbitrary surfaces”, said Kolarov, “is a perfect complement to Kilocore’s architecture and will result in breakthrough 3D performance for our customers.” Kilocore’s massively parallel architecture supports applications where energy reduction and compute-intensive processing are required while offering the ability to add or switch functions while in operation.
GI’s Conformal Structure approach to parameterizing arbitrary complex 3D surfaces is a breakthrough change for 3D Graphics applications. The method is based on fundamental mathematical representation of intrinsic properties of the surface. As such, GI’s proprietary software enables high-resolution, high-speed processing of 3D Graphics data in wide-ranging applications. “The GI/Rapport partnership is an ideal combination of GI’s unique software capability in 3D Graphics with Rapport’s leading hardware chip platform”, said Shing-Tung Yau, co-founder of Geometric Informatics.
